Hello Community of Practice,
In light of recent staffing changes, we wanted to give a quick update on VCH’s drug checking program.
As was announced on the September 12th CoP call, VCH’s Drug Checking Technician Kyle Besaw has moved on to a new position and we have since posted for a temporary, full-time opening. We are hoping to have a new technician trained and in place by the end of October, 2019. (Job opportunity details here: https://careers-vch.icims.com/jobs/105743/drug-checking-technician/job)
Just a reminder, drug checking test strips are available at Overdose Prevention Sites (OPS) and supervised consumption sites.
We also want to announce that Get Your Drugs Tested (880 East Hastings) has been given a designation to offer drug checking and harm reduction supplies 7 days a week. They offer both test strip and spectrometer drug checking services. Their hours are as follows: Monday – Friday 4 – 8pm, and weekends from 2 – 8 pm. They also accept mail-in drug checking services. For more information visit https://getyourdrugstested.com, or e-mail gydt@gmail.com.
The latest drug checking schedule is now updated - you can download the PDF form here or keep up to date on the drug checking page or the VCH website here: www.vch.ca/drugchecking
Thank you for your continued efforts during this change.
