I posted this information in 2019 with a photo of the scarring of the glass. All training should include and put into the towards the heart program on how to find the silver dot and how to put your thumb on it and crack the vial away from you. A little educatoin can go a long way.

Years ago I showed via a coupe of photographs on what to look for on the vials before cracking them open.. There is a silver dot on one side of the vial, put your thumb on it and break the top away from you. In the photogrpah you can see the scarring of the glass that allows this to open easily. This should be included in all Towards the heart training. IF there is no dot then the vial has been scored fully around the vial.

Pulse Oximeters are a useful tool, Many factors can inhibit the pulse oximeter from getting an accurate reading. Yes, Hand/finger temperature, cleanliness, nail polish, circulation, medical shock, chronic medical problems etc... these and more can play a roll in getting an accurate reading. Generally they all use the same algorithm and should all be equal.

Hello Everyone, The way to break the top off a Naloxone glass vial safely is to: 1. Shake or swirl the glass vial by holding the plastic top. 2. The liquid will be below the top glass cap now. 3. Locate the silver dot on the vial 4. Put your thumb over the dot 5. Snap the top of the vial cap (top) away from you. The top of the glass Vial will snap away easily and safely without the glass shattering in your hand and potentially loosing all the Narcan or cutting yourself in the process. The reason this is done this way is the manufacturer has put a tiny score on the glass vial so when you snap the top glass cap away from you it breaks easily. I Hope this helps. Tommy
