There have been reports from frontline workers that not all Emergency Services such as EHS and VPD are following the protocols and policies set by VCH & BCCDC when responding to an OD e.g. distancing. If any other sites are experiencing services not following protocols or have any concerns or questions please reach out or comment and we can follow up.

We had some great conversation on the CoP this morning in regards to community solutions to COVID-19 related barriers in Harm Reduction supply distribution and in Overdose Response in health care settings. Please post any working solutions that your team has come up with to support these practices! Example 1) Providing pre-made ‘hit kits’ (ie syringes, waters, alcohol pads, matches, bandaid, gauze) in bags at the door so individuals do not need to be screened or enter the site to access HR supplies. Example 2) Moving clients experiencing an opiate overdose to a location in the site which won’t require the site to be closed post OD response if aerosolizing procedures are used.
