Drug Checking Alert – A yellow granular sample of down expected to contain fentanyl was tested at Insite on May 22nd evening. The substance was purchased in the DTES. The client reported the down to be very strong and likely contain carfentanil or benzo’s before the drugs were tested using the FTIR Spectrometer.
Results revealed caffeine, inositol, polyethylene glycol and fentanyl (5-8%). The fentanyl test strip and benzodiazepine test strips were both positive. A positive benzo strip means that the sample likely did not contain etizolam but another benzodiazepine druge.
An overdose alert was sent out through the RADAR BAD DOPE text alert system and a Harm Reduction poster has been circulated through the COP group and will be available on the Drug Checking page of the website.
Please still be mindful of the Benzo management document which can also be found in the blog section of the website.
