As first line OD responders, I'm wondering how often you try to get a drug check on the sample that put someone into overdose? Using leftover/used cooker residue, for example?
If drug checking does happen on samples that led people to OD, do you tend to submit a bad dope alert or spread any info via word of mouth?
Keen to hear what usually happens at your site.
OPS/SIS participants do sometimes bring their cooker or a sample of the drug they experienced an OD while using. Right after the OD is usually not be the best time to ask, as the participant is usually confused and in distress following an OD.
When it comes to drug alerts, to my understanding we only send out reports for high percentages, strange OD's, strong analogues of Fentanyl, harmful adulterants, or non-opioid drug contaminated with Fentanyl.
Hope this helps!
